Fiji wins New Zealand leg of the Sevens

Fijian supporter before the final...

One thing you can’t argue with – fans at the Rugby World Sevens games are good natured and there for a good time.

Wellington turned it on again last weekend – superb weather, fantastic  and incredibly creative costuming, lots of good humoured fun, and exciting rugby.

New Zealand lost in the semi-finals and although it was disappointing for a short time, the crowd quickly got behind the successful teams. Fiji and Samoa reached the final – two deserving teams who’ve both come from tough times at home.

The chant started early on in the game with the whole crowd joining in. Sa-moa, Fi-ji, Sa-moa, Fi-ji, Sa-moa, Fi-ji.

The only ones who limited themselves to baracking for a single team were their supporters. Otherwise, we really didn’t mind.

Sevens won out on the day!
