PS22 Chorus Red Carpet Video (Extended Version!)

The clip shows an amazing young music teacher (from Public School 22 in Graniteville, Staten Island, New York) with his elementary students – a group known as the PS22 Chorus. They are all in tiered seating angled towards their teacher seated at the piano. The music is fantastic – the students are so totally with him with enthusiasm,  happiness, energy and love, with their wonderful spirited singing and great harmonies.

This teacher has transformed the lives of many of his students, given them aspirations and confidence to strive for the things they love.
The talented have been given the space to shine and opportunities that may never otherwise have come their way.  This is what education is all about isn’t it.
I was incredibly moved – especially with a comment made by him. What better reward is there in life than in:
“Going to work and being happier for going to work”
Wow!!! I don’t know if I have ever been able to make that claim. Sure I’ve had days that have been successful and rewarding in the work context. But has it put a spring in my step and made me feel euphoric? Has it made me feel as if my contribution has enhanced the lives of others?
I don’t think so. There’s still time …
