Can a camera truly capture a moment in time?

From photographer Robin Hammond

I believe that a camera, and photographer, can truly capture a moment in time. One moment in time, one specific moment, one unique moment, is what the camera captures.

Have a look at the incredibly beautiful work of Robin Hammond in the photo gallery on the Guardian website (link  below). Robin is an inspirational photographer – skilled in interpreting and communicating what he sees. In his photography expresses an emotional connection with his subjects which make it impossible for us to view his work without having some sort of emotional response to it.

No-one says it better than absolutely awesome New Zealand photographer Fleur Wickes:

“He uses his eye, his skill and his heart to make work that really matters.”
